The Paintress

Tuesday 17th October at 18:00

Generally viewed as marvels of nature, successful female artists during the Renaissance had to overcome massive difficulties in their training and in their careers as professionals in the field. This session focuses on three powerhouse creatives: Suor Plautilla Nelli, Florence’s first known female artist; papal portraitist Lavinia Fontana; and Sofonisba Anguissola, whose incredible career took her to the prestigious court of King Phillip II of Spain
